Culinary Director
Purpose
We are passionate about helping people live healthier lives.
We do that by providing nutritious, locally sourced, plant-based meals prepared for people in our community who are facing serious health challenges- with the help of an amazing group of teen volunteers who support us in the kitchen.
The primary purpose of the Culinary Director is to oversee all aspects of the kitchen and food preparation. Additionally, the role includes the responsibility to provide and cultivate a safe & engaging learning environment for our clients and volunteers, support growth within the organization, make connections within our community and to be a steward of the ethical, environmental and educational Mission of AMOR Healing Kitchen that is rooted in service and the desire to build a healthier community.

The ideal candidate for this role will share our passion for helping to inspire others to live a healthier lifestyle as well as our love and passion for preparing nutritious and delicious plant-based food. They will possess a strong sense of responsibility, a desire to learn more about how we can create a better world and a commitment to preserving our environment . Culinary experience, knowledge of whole-foods and plant-based cooking are a must. Strong organizational skills, appreciation for diversity and ability to communicate effectively are also vital to this role.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop weekly menu using seasonal ingredients and adapting recipes based on weekly donations received
- Prepare for each volunteer shift to execute weekly recipes and proper packaging
- Coordinate with the Client Enrollment Manager in ensuring accurate delivery packaging for the clients
- Cultivate a welcoming and positive learning environment in the kitchen
- Adhere to Food & Workplace Safety, protocols and procedures as outlined in the AHK Operations Manual
- Assist in developing, planning, organization and execution of various fundraising events (including live and virtual events like cooking classes, seminars, community events, fundraisers)
Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain current & develop new community partnerships through food product procurement and events
- Monitor and minimize food cost and food waste
- Manage inventory and order all necessary supplies for production and delivery of meals
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records
- Mentor and educate teen volunteer group
- Review feedback from clients, volunteers and all stakeholders to focus on continuous improvement to our products, services and process, to identify opportunities for efficiency and ways to enhance the overall experience
Minimum Requirements
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
- HACCP certified or willingness to obtain certification summer 2021
- Basic knowledge of Google docs/spreadsheets
- Background Check
- Culinary degree or extensive culinary experience (minimum 5 years)
- Extensive knowledge and experience with whole foods, plant-based cooking & nutrition
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with youth
- Experience managing people
- Experience managing a kitchen

Salary Range / Benefits
- $38,000-43,000
- 2 weeks vacation time + week of Christmas off
