Lowcountry Foodbank
Many individuals and families across coastal South Carolina are feeling the effects of the government shutdown and changes to SNAP benefits. These disruptions can make it harder to keep food on the table — especially for federal employees, contractors, military families, and others who rely on consistent income or benefits.
Lowcountry Food Bank is there to help ensure every neighbor has access to nutritious food and community support during this time of uncertainty.
Charleston Library: After School Food Programs
Kids and teens can enjoy FREE after-school snacks and meals at select library branches now through May 15, 2026 through the Kids Cafe program. The program, in partnership with the Lowcountry Food Bank, provides access to healthy food options throughout the school year. Visit the Library Website for more info!
School District Support
School districts around the Lowcountry are stepping up to help students in need as the ongoing government shutdown threatens SNAP funding for November.
CCSD plans to provide supper and/or after-school snacks for students in after-school programs.
